ADMISSION TO POST BASIC DIPLOMA IN ONCOLOGY NURSING  COURSE

ADMISSION NOTIFICATION FOR FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMMES



The Institute has initiated a program of Professional education, technology and expertise transfer through short-term education/training programme for undergraduate, postgraduate and staff of medical colleges/district hospitals and Primary Health Centres. The main objective of this training programme would be to train the medical personnel in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer in early stages in their respective areas. This Institute is running postgraduate courses in MD (Radiotherapy) from the year 1987. Super Speciality Courses viz. M.Ch (Surgical Oncology) & D.M. Medical Oncology), PG diploma in DNM (Diploma in Nuclear Medicine) & DRP (Diploma in Radiation Physics), B.Sc. Medical Technology (Laboratory/Radiotherapy/Radio diagnosis) have also been started from 1, Sept. 1989. These courses are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and recognised by the Medical Council of India, New Delhi.

Library Information Services:

The most essential need for any doctor, researcher is a good library information service and the KMIO has established one such specialised library in the field of oncology and allied sciences in the year 1980. The regular and selective addition of books and periodicals to the library has enriched its collection in the field of oncology and allied sciences and has made it a good reference centre. The library has collection of 4,600 text books, current periodicals subscribed for 2008 is 125 and bound periodicals 5706. This library caters to the needs of Oncologists, Research Scientists, undergraduates and postgraduates students of different disciplines. Professional information services available are collection organisation, document delivery service, current awareness service, selective dissemination service and photocopy service etc.,  E-Mail and Internet services from NIC, Bangalore.

 The Institute has taken up a project on "Design & Development of Oncology Database from Indian Bio-medical Journal and funded by NIC, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

Computer Facilities:

The Institute has installed a Central Mini Computer System for the better storage of the patient data, quick retrieval of patient treatment particulars, quick disposal and reduction of patients waiting time. This facility has been provided at the records unit and at Investigation departments. The second phase of computerisation will include clinical departments and other areas. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.60.00 lakhs.
